This is why I love newegg.comFiled Under: Computers, Technology
I have been planning a new video podcast, and one of the first things I will be doing for it is titled project “h”. Now I can’t say much about this project, but I will say this much. It involves building a computer, which we are going to do on camera. Needless to say I would need parts to build a computer, yeah sure I could build it out of spare parts I had laying around the house, but what would the fun of that be?
So I headed over to my favorite part supplier newegg.com. I ordered the following list of parts on Tuesday at 10:56AM.
Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 3.0GHz LGA 775 130W Quad-Core Processor
DFI BloodIron P35-T2RL ATX Intel Motherboard
Patriot 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Memory
LG 20X DVD±R Super Multi DVD Burner Black ATAPI / E-IDE Model GSA-H55NK
Now I paid for standard shipping on the entire order, and did not choose the rush option. I arrived home from work the next day (Wednesday) at 4:30 and saw a package on my porch. I thought to myself, I didn’t order anything recently, and it’s too soon to be my package from newegg. Well I am happy to say that I was wrong. It was actually my newegg package. So I got curious as to when it was actually dropped off on my porch. So I checked the tracking number via the newegg site and found it was delivered at 1:48, which is barely 24 hours after I had placed the order.
So that is why I love newegg, not only do they have the best prices around, but the service is exceptional. I do have to not that I was lucky enough to have everything I ordered be in stock at the Edison, NJ warehouse. Being that I live in Northeast Pennsylvania, it was a quick trip to my home. But even when I order things that have to ship from California they are usually always here within 2 days, 3 at the most.
Now hopefully you’ve read all the way down to hear, and are thinking to yourself that this is going to be a pretty powerful computer with an extreme quad core processor and 4 gigs of ram. Well I actually ordered 2 sets of the ram, so that means 8 gigs of ram. So this is going to be a beast of a computer, you’ll just have to keep an eye out for the upcoming launch of the new project. I’m not going to give out the URL just yet. If you want to know when the project launches you can subscribe to my RSS feed, or you can follow me on twitter.
