People are all worried that the Large Hardron Collider will bring about the end of the world. Personally I think the experiment will be safe. What I do worry about is some hacker group penetrating the security of the network, and messing around with things.
This exact scenario played out between September 9th & 10th at CERN. A group calling themselves Greek Security Team was able to deface one of the sites that is part of the LHC network. The site has been since unreachable to the public.

So I just wrote that nice little article about making a headphone stand, which I’ve included a copy of below.
I went over to Ikea signed up for an account and tried to purchase the items needed to assemble my new headphone stand. Unfortunately Ikea decided that they would inform me that one of the items I wanted to order was not available for shipping. This isn’t that big of a problem, but the closest Ikea to me is two hours away and I would have to wait to obtain the parts whenever it is I would be in that area next. My problem with the whole thing is they don’t tell you what part it is. This is what they displayed on the page.
Yeah, how nice of them to not let you know what they can’t ship. Maybe it’s all the pieces, but at least they should put a little asterisk in there somewhere. This was my first attempt to purchase anything at Ikea, and so far they are not impressing me. I’ve always wanted to go to one of their retail locations, maybe I should just skip that as well. I’ve heard they are like mazes.
Just saw this over on lifehacker. They got it from ikeahacker.
Basically it is instructions on how to take three different pieces from Ikea and turn them into a nice headphone stand. I have a nice pair of plantronics headphones that I use to record Growing Up Geek. The problem is that I have no place to keep them nice, they get tangled up in everything and it’s so annoying. So after reading through the article on ikeahacker, I’ve decided I need one of these stands. So I am going to order the parts and build two sets, yes two sets, because when you order the parts you need you get just about enough to make two sets. So if anyone would like the second set just let me know, I’d be happy to split the price with you.
