It started out easy, then it got stupid.Filed Under: Computers, Technology, Work
Well my day started out with a pretty simple stop. Computer didn’t have sound, wouldn’t print and couldn’t access “Microsoft”. I un-muted the volume, moved the USB cable that was mistakingly put into the cable modem when it was disconnected back into the printer and sold a copy of Microsoft Office 2007.The stupidity part came when I had a simple networking stop. Client bought a new desktop and had a wireless network that was setup about 2 years ago. He decided he could take the wireless PCI card out himself, and put it in the new computer. Obviously the new computer runs Vista. The client installed the old unusable copy of the drivers, and software. The only thing that saved him from causing some major problems with his OS is that he never firmly seated the card in the PCI slot. Also the entire network was not functioning, so I power cycled the modem and router and solved that quickly.I guess it’s just another day in the life of a Geek. When I was finally done for the day the family and I went to Asian Cafe for some nice dinner, and did a little grocery shopping over at Gerritys. Now we are all hanging out, relaxing and watching American Idol.
